I obviously kid about the "great minds" thing. or do I? 

Given that it was the Freeh Report that provoked both the rash and unconscionably harsh sanctions imposed by the NCAA upon Penn State and the cowardly willingness of the Penn State President and the Board of Trustees to swallow them, I believe it’s time for somebody to conduct a thorough examination of the report, if only to assure that the report’s scathing criticism of Penn State’s response to the 1998 investigation is justified and that its evidence of a cover-up by Penn State in 2001 actually supports the report’s conclusion of a cover-up at Penn State.

Important Information Missing from the FREEH Report

When reading something like the Freeh Report, it's easy to evaluate what's there. However, what sets an average analyst apart from a very good analyst is determining what's not there.....

The Freeh Report correctly reports several times that Gary Schultz, Tim Curley, Graham Spanier, and Joe Paterno did not report Sandusky to the authorities. In these reports, Freeh states that the authority to be contacted is the Department of Child Welfare.

So, what is missing?

Part One: The Philadelphia Inquirer Mangles the Flawed Freeh Report

What do you do when reporters from a major metropolitan daily newspaper—in this case, The Philadelphia Inquirer—demonstrate that they are completely incapable of reading a published report—in this case The Freeh Report—and providing their readers with a coherent summary of its contents? What do you do when the egregious misreading of that report by these reporters presents its readers a very false picture of how officials at Penn State handled Mike McQueary’s allegations of child molestation by Jerry Sandusky in February 2001? Perhaps you would recommend that the Philadelphia Inquirer receive the “death penalty” and not be permitted to publish its sludge for a full year!

The FREEH STATEMENT - One Load of Crap

Louis Freeh the disgraced FBI Director who presided over the agency for 8 years when Robert Hanssen the worst spy in US history sold billions in secrets to the USSR and then Russia. Freeh was Director until July of 2011 (replaced by an interim for 71 days) during the prelude to 9/11 while the terrorists were training to fly at US flight schools. And finally Freeh became Trustee for MF Global and is being investigated by Congress for his role in withholding documents from other trustees and assigning big bonuses to the former managers of the bankrupt company.

Freeh Says:" Our most saddening and sobering finding is the total disregard for the safety and welfare of Sandusky’s child victims by the most senior leaders at Penn State," Freeh wrote. "The most powerful men at Penn State failed to take any steps for 14 years to protect the children who Sandusky victimized." Well DuH!! The leaders at Penn State never believed they were dealing with a pedophile.

Leaked Email Sparks New Media Frenzy

The  NEW MEDIA FRENZY is worse than the first

Based on the LIE In the Grand Jury Presentment - that Mike McQueary saw JS forcing a child into anal intercourse and telling that to Joe, Tim and Gary - the media rushed to judgment. When it was shown in under oath testimony that MM did not see anal intercourse and did not report that he did see anal intercourse the same media was woefully silent.

Then the Jury in the Sandusky trial came back with a NOT GUILTY verdict on 'deviate sexual intercourse" involving victim 2 and the media again failed to report that the verdict proved the Grand Jury Presentment was LIE. Not one recantation can I find in all the reports of the verdicts that mention the fact that the Presentment was based on a lie.

The media is back with a false narrative "Joe and PSU administrators knew of a sexual assault and covered it up"

LEAKED EMAIL and AGENDAS

So now we have versions of four emails leaked by someone to CNN. I suspect the leak came from a civil attorney for one of the victims from something told to him by a contact with the Freeh investigation. The email text is not exact but it has added fuel to the anti PSU/Paterno bonfire started by the media in the wake of the Grand Jury Presentment of Nov 5 2011. Since that time PSU has been on the defensive - despite the Board of Trustees capitulation and surrender without a shot.
The media is taking the emails as proof of a coverup and complicity of Joe Paterno. "How could they know that pedophile Sandusky raped a boy in the PSU showers and then think it humane to ban JS from PSU without reporting it to the authorities" is the general theme.
It seems these email leaks most benefit civil attorneys in settlement talks and in their support for the AG's theme. PSU knew of a dangerous pedophile and covered it up.
